Refer a Friend – Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 3 July 2026

1. General

1.1. These Refer a Friend Terms and Conditions ("Referral Terms") apply to the Canwi "Refer a Friend" programme (the "Programme"), operated by Canwi Australia Pty Ltd ACN 679 628 829 ("Canwi", "we", "us", "our").

1.2. These Referral Terms should be read together with, and are subject to, the Canwi End User Terms and the Canwi Privacy Policy (together, the "Agreement"). If there is any inconsistency between these Referral Terms and the End User Terms in relation to the Programme, these Referral Terms will apply.

1.3. By generating, sharing, or using a Canwi referral link, or by signing up to Canwi via a referral link, you agree to these Referral Terms. If you do not agree, you should not participate in the Programme.

1.4. All amounts referred to in these Referral Terms are in Australian dollars (AUD).

2. Who can participate

2.1. Referrers. Any registered Canwi user with an active account — whether on Starter, Canwi Plus, or Lifetime Premium — may participate in the Programme as a referrer, subject to clause 5.4 (Lifetime Premium reward eligibility).

2.2. Referees. Only new users are eligible to be referred. A "new user" is a person who creates a brand-new Canwi account for the first time. Existing Canwi account holders are not eligible to be referred, even if they click on a referral link.

2.3. Each person may only be referred once. Once a referral relationship has been recorded against an account (see clause 3), that account cannot be attributed to a different referrer or claim the referee reward again.

2.4. Self-referral is not permitted. You may not refer yourself, or use multiple accounts, aliases, or false identities to generate referral rewards for yourself.

2.5. You must be 18 years or older and hold a valid Canwi account to participate, consistent with the eligibility requirements in the End User Terms.

3. How the Programme works

3.1. Each Canwi user is issued a personal, permanent referral link in the format https://canwi.com.au/?referral={CODE}, where {CODE} is an 8-character alphanumeric code unique to that user.

3.2. When a prospective referee clicks a referrer's link, Canwi stores a referral cookie on their device for 30 days from the date of the first click.

3.3. If the referred person creates a new Canwi account within that 30-day period (while the cookie remains valid), the referral is recorded against their account. If they do not create an account within 30 days of clicking the link, no referral will be attributed and the link will not generate a reward for either party.

3.4. Once a referral has been recorded, the new user (referee) has 60 days from the date their account was created to subscribe to Canwi Plus (the "Claim Window"). If the referee does not subscribe to Canwi Plus within the Claim Window, the referral offer expires and no discount or credit will be applied.

3.5. Referral attribution and cookie tracking are handled automatically by Canwi's systems. Canwi is not responsible for a referral failing to be recorded due to matters outside its control, including but not limited to the referee clearing cookies, using a different device or browser to sign up, using browser settings that block tracking, or using an ad blocker.

4. Referee reward (new users)

4.1. If a referee subscribes to Canwi Plus within their Claim Window, the following discount is automatically applied to their first Canwi Plus payment at checkout:

(a) $30 AUD off, if the referee selects monthly billing; or

(b) $89 AUD off, if the referee selects annual billing.

4.2. The discount is applied automatically at Stripe checkout. No promo code entry is required.

4.3. The referral discount cannot be combined with any other promotional or discount code. If a referee applies a separate promo code at checkout, the referral discount will not also apply - only one discount can be used per transaction.

4.4. The referee reward applies to Canwi Plus subscriptions only. It does not apply to the free Starter tier or to Lifetime Premium.

4.5. For privacy reasons, the referrer's name and identity are not shown to the referee as part of the referral experience.

5. Referrer reward (existing users)

5.1. When a referee completes their first successful paid payment for a Canwi Plus subscription, the referrer who referred them receives a matching credit:

(a) $30 AUD, if the referee subscribed on a monthly plan; or

(b) $89 AUD, if the referee subscribed on an annual plan.

5.2. The referrer credit amount always matches the discount amount received by the referee for the same referral, based on the billing cycle the referee selected.

5.3. The credit is applied as a customer account balance credit, which is automatically deducted from the referrer's future Canwi Plus billing. The credit cannot be withdrawn, cashed out, or paid to a bank account - it can only be used to reduce future Canwi Plus subscription payments.

5.4. Lifetime Premium members may generate and share referral links, but because Lifetime Premium members do not have ongoing Canwi Plus billing, they are not eligible to receive referral credits under this Programme.

5.5. There is no limit specified in these Referral Terms on the number of successful referrals a referrer may make; however, Canwi reserves the right to introduce limits, caps, or further conditions on the Programme at any time in accordance with clause 8.

6. Referral links and codes

6.1. Referral codes and links are personal to the user they were issued to and must not be transferred, sold, published in a manner designed to mislead recipients, or used other than for genuine, personal referrals to people the referrer knows.

6.2. Canwi may rotate, deactivate, or expire referral codes at its discretion. An expired or deactivated code cannot be used to attribute new signups.

6.3. If a referral was successfully recorded (in accordance with clause 3) before a referrer's code was expired or deactivated, the referee may still complete their subscription within their existing Claim Window, and both parties remain eligible for the applicable rewards under clauses 4 and 5.

7. Fraud and misuse

7.1. Canwi may investigate any referral, account, or transaction that it reasonably suspects involves fraud, abuse, or a breach of these Referral Terms, including (without limitation) self-referral, the use of fake, duplicate, or bot-generated accounts, or manipulation of the referral tracking process.

7.2. Where Canwi reasonably suspects misuse, it may, at its discretion:

(a) withhold, delay, reverse, or revoke any referee discount or referrer credit;

(b) suspend or terminate the referrer's, referee's, or both parties' participation in the Programme; and/or

(c) take any further action available to it under the End User Terms, including suspending or terminating the relevant Canwi account(s).

8. Changes, suspension and termination

8.1. Canwi may modify, suspend, or terminate the Programme (including these Referral Terms, reward amounts, the Claim Window, or the cookie attribution period) at any time, with or without notice, acting reasonably.

8.2. If Canwi terminates the Programme, referrals that have already been successfully attributed and remain within an active Claim Window at the time of termination will generally continue to be honoured in accordance with these Referral Terms, unless termination is due to suspected fraud or misuse.

8.3. Continued use of a referral link or continued participation in the Programme after changes to these Referral Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

9. Rewards - general conditions

9.1. Referral discounts and credits have no cash value, cannot be redeemed for cash, cannot be withdrawn or paid out as cash or to a bank account, and are not transferable to another person or account. Referrer credits can only be used to reduce the cost of future Canwi Plus subscription payments.

9.2. Rewards apply only to Canwi Plus subscriptions and cannot be applied to Starter or Lifetime Premium.

9.3. Participants are solely responsible for determining and meeting any tax obligations that may arise from receiving a referral discount or credit. Canwi does not provide tax advice - see clause 2.4 and 2.6 of the End User Terms.

9.4. The Programme is void where prohibited by law, and Canwi may restrict eligibility in any jurisdiction or circumstance where the Programme cannot lawfully be offered.

10. Privacy

10.1. Participation in the Programme involves the collection and use of certain personal information (such as referral link activity and account creation data) in accordance with the Canwi Privacy Policy, available at help.canwi.com.au/en/articles/10434964-privacy-policy

10.2. Referrers should only share their referral link with people they have a genuine basis to contact, and should not use the Programme to send unsolicited bulk communications.

11. Relationship to the End User Terms

11.1. Nothing in these Referral Terms limits, replaces, or reduces Canwi's rights under the End User Terms, including Canwi's rights regarding disclaimers, limitations of use, intellectual property, and termination.

11.2. In the event of any conflict between these Referral Terms and the End User Terms specifically in relation to the Programme, these Referral Terms prevail to the extent of the inconsistency.

12. Governing law

12.1. These Referral Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.
