Overview

The Start Childcare event dynamically calculates the Out-Of-Pocket Cost of Childcare (i.e. taking into account the Child Care Subsidy [CCS]).

Options

You can select the details of the amount of childcare you'll be sending your child to including:

  • Cost per day

  • Weeks per Year

  • Days per Week in care

Based on this we'll calculate the Estimated Annual Cost before subsidy.

You can then configure information that's specific to the Child Care Subsidy including:

  • Care Type

  • Fortnightly Activity Hours

  • Hours per Day in Care

Based on these details as well as:

  • Your projected household Taxable Income in each year

  • The hourly rate cap for the Care Type selected

  • The total eligible subsidised hours (based on Fortnightly Activity Hours)

We'll calculate the subsidy amount that you should be eligible for.

You can see in the projected childcare cost on the right side of the event the breakdown of the cost.

How do I adjust the options for childcare between years

At this stage you can't do this within a single "Start Childcare" event. However you could adjust the Duration of the event (e.g. 1 year) with a specific set of options and then add another "Start Childcare" event in a subsequent year with a different set of options and duration.

Limitations

If you have multiple children in childcare you may be eligible for a higher rate typically for the younger child. We do NOT currently calculate this.
